Family members of 66-year-old Michael Maisner went to his home in Summit Township, Pennsylvania, on April 12th, 2023 after they hadn’t heard from him for two weeks.
They didn’t find him, but they encountered Marisa Jean Rodriguez, who had recently moved into the attic.
The family requested that police conduct a welfare check the following day. By that time, Rodriguez was gone, but inside the home they found the carpet missing and signs of a crime.
In a fire pit, they saw parts of an eyeglass, human remains, and human bone.
Authorities tracked Rodriguez to New York the next day, where she was driving Maisner’s vehicle. She was arrested and sent back to Pennsylvania.
The evidence piled up quickly with incriminating searches and pictures of Maisner dead on her online accounts.
She pleaded guilty but mentally ill to 3rd degree murder and other offenses on August 26th, 2025. She was recently sentenced to 40 to 80 years in prison.
