Colleen Rose Sayegh’s mother had a stroke in February 2021 and became wheelchair bound. She expected her daughter to care for her, but the daughter wasn’t up for the task.

On July 19th, 2022, authorities responded to a home to find the wheelchair bound woman with multiple open sores on her body. She was dehydrated, and her pajamas were covered in feces and urine, indicating she was not being adequately cared for.

She died two days later of sepsis.

Sayegh became the focus of a neglect investigation and said her mother’s sores were only a week old, something the medical examiner refuted.

Sayegh admitted to not bathing her mother or taking her to the doctor.

On October 14th, 2025, the first day of her trial, she decided to plead guilty to negligent care of a dependent person.

Despite her guilty plea, she blamed her mother, saying she “kept refusing treatment.”

The judge exclaimed, “We don’t even treat animals like this.” he then sentenced her to 15 months to 18 years in a Pennsylvania state prison.
