Murder of Etienne L. McEwan

On August 30th, 2022, Etienne L. McEwan went to sleep, but he would never wake up.

At around 1 am the following day, someone shot him in the back of his head. One of his preteen daughters heard the gunshot, and after seeing him bleeding, she called the police.

Authorities arrived at the scene to find the girl’s daughters outside, flagging them down.

When they went in, they saw McEwan’s wife, Melanie Biggins, giving him husband CPR, but it didn’t help, and soon he was pronounced dead.

Biggins claimed she heard a gunshot, woke up, went downstairs, and saw the door was open.

Authorities saw no signs of forced entry. They later found the gun in the home, hidden under a mattress.

Eventually, Biggins admitted she wanted a divorce but could not afford one.

She was charged with first-degree murder and could have gotten the death penalty.

For unknown reasons, she was given a sweetheart deal.

She pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter and was sentenced to 10 years in prison.
