Crime

34-year-old Taylor Meyer thought he was losing his wife, Debra, to another man after he saw a picture of her holding hands with one of her coworkers. She was also reportedly leaving him alone with the three kids all the time.

He decided to go all out for Valentine’s Day 2025 to win back her attention. He had a Paris-themed celebration, and his kids drew decorations. But she wasn’t impressed by his efforts.

The two fought, and his wife left the home for 20 minutes. When she returned, Taylor demanded to see her phone, and things got physical.

At some point, Debra asked him, are you are going to kill me and leave our kids with no parents. Taylor did just that. He knocked over the head with a wine bottle, choked her, then grabbed a knife and went crazy, stabbing her 40 times.

Whas11 reported that after the attack, he texted her friends and family in a group chat saying he killed her. He also included a photo of her body. On top of that, he called the man he thought was sleeping with his wife and said, “It’s your fault.”

According to WDRB, the man Taylor thought she was cheating with contacted 911. He told them he thought Deborah was in danger as he got a call from her phone and heard her screaming. The man arrived at the home at the same time as the authorities. As he was speaking with the cops, Taylor texted him a picture of Deborah unconscious on the floor.

That gave cops at the scene probable cause to enter the home. As they were trying to get inside, Taylor opened the garage door, came outside, and was taken into custody.

Inside the home, officers found Deborah dead.

Legal Proceedings

He went to trial in January 2026 and was convicted of murder.

He returned to court for sentencing in April 2026. According to Whas11, one of the victim’s family members counted to 40, symbolizing the number of times Deborah was stabbed.

According to CourtTV, Meyer lawyer told the court, “I think any incarceration really isn’t needed, because he realizes what happened here, he realizes it was his mistake and nobody else’s.” The lawyer also said, “to warehouse somebody in jail really has diminishing returns, makes them more of a criminal.”

According to Wave3, he was sentenced to 65 years in prison.

He has a projected release date of November 15th, 2073, when he will be 70 years old.
