Crime

30-year-old Chanti Dixon left her job in Indianapolis, Indiana, at 3:30 am on September 8th, 2024, and hopped in an Uber.

She made one stop before being taken to her home address. Records indicate the ride ended at 4:05 am.

Her family couldn’t reach her the next day, so at around 1 pm on Monday, September 9th, Dixon’s mother tracked her phone and found her naked and unresponsive in a wooded area behind her residence.

Police and medical personnel were called to the scene; they pronounced Dixon dead. She had been shot once in the head.

ABCNews reported that authorities determined her Uber driver was 29-year-old Francisco Valadez.

When authorities talked to Valadez, he told them he picked Dixon up, and as he was dropping her off, a black man came to the vehicle, robbed her, and shot her in the leg.

He claimed she got out of the car, and he fled the scene. He told several more stories, but as the questioning got more intense, he folded.

According to Fox59, Valadez eventually admitted that he drove Dixon to a dead-end street and tried to rape her before ultimately shooting her in the head. After dragging her out of the vehicle into a wooded area, he tried to rape her dead body before fleeing the scene.

He was charged with murder, attempted rape, and attempted abuse of a corpse.

Legal Proceedings

Fox59 reported in December 2025 that he pleaded guilty to murder. The attempted rape and attempted abuse of a corpse charges were dropped as part of his plea deal.

He was sentenced to 45 years in prison. He also has to register as a sex offender, and he cannot appeal his sentence.
