Crime

35-year-old Mallery Armijo, her boyfriend, and others entered a 7-Eleven in Las Vegas, Nevada, back on June 23rd, 2023 to grab some food. Armijo picked up a few items, and according to News3lv, she put a salad in her purse.

Cashier Rainer Jefferson checked the store surveillance and saw what she did.

When she went to the register with several items, he accused her of stealing and then demanded that she put everything on the counter.

She put down the stuff she was carrying, but she did not take the salad out of her purse. As she left the store, Jefferson followed her and grabbed her purse. She resisted and tried to slap his arm away, so he punched her in the head, causing her to drop to the ground.

He continued to pull at her purse, causing her to lift off the ground.

One of her friends pulled a gun and held it by his side. He would later tell police that he told Jefferson he shouldn’t do that to a woman.

The friend claimed he never pointed the weapon at Jefferson and quickly put it away. While the two men were going back and forth, Armijo went back into the store.

Jefferson took back the salad, threw Armijo’s purse aside, and went back into the store. Armijo left to store, and she walked out of the camera frame with her belongings and her male friend by her side.

Jefferson grabbed a gun, came back outside, and shouted, “I’ll show you gangster boy. This is a strap,” before firing three shots.

Armijo was hit in the back twice, while the other bullet hit a sign.

The panicked store clerk ran back inside, changed clothes, grabbed his stuff, and left.

Armijo was taken to Sunrise Hospital, where she passed away.

Jefferson was arrested five days after the crime and charged with murder.

The twice-convicted felon was not supposed to have a weapon.
