Background
According to WCYC, A man was walking his dog on the evening of March 2nd in Cleveland, Ohio, when the dog became interested in a partially buried suitcase.
The man opened the suitcases and saw what looked like a dead body. He contacted the police, and when they arrived, they confirmed the body was a young female. They found a second suitcase and found another young female inside.
The investigation moved quickly, and according to WCYC, by March 4th, authorities announced they had a person of interest. Two days later, 28-year-old Aliyah Henderson was arraigned on murder charges.
Authorities say she killed her daughters, 10-year-old Amor Wilson and 8-year-old Mila Chatman, before stuffing them in the suitcases and dumping their bodies.
The Cuyahoga County Prosecutor announced that she was indicted on:
- Six counts of Aggravated Murder
- Four counts of Murder
- Sic counts of Kidnapping
- Three counts of Child Endangering
- One count of Tampering with Evidence
- Two counts of Gross Abuse of a corpse
Her bond has been set at $2 million, and she remains locked up.
Ohio does have the death penalty, but since Ohio hasn’t executed a woman since 1954, prosecutors probably won’t seek it in this case.
