34-year-old Martell DeRouen was an upcoming music producer and rapper. But he never got a chance to fulfill his potential.
On January 26th, 2021, police went to his San Antonio home for a welfare check. They found him dead from a gunshot wound.
Investigators saw evidence of a physical altercation as dishes and glasses had been broken.
Neighbors reported hearing a fight four days prior, and one even recorded the argument, intending to give it to the landlord.
Ring camera from another neighbor captured a female with a gun banging on DeRouen’s door.
They talked to the victim’s estranged wife, and she told them DeRouen was seeing 21-year-old Sasha Skare.
All the evidence pointed to Skare, and she was arrested for murder. Prosecutors offered her a plea deal to serve 20 years, but she turned it down.
She went to trial and claimed the gun went off on accident. The jury didn’t buy it. She was sentenced to 55 years.
She will be eligible for parole on August 6th, 2048
