Nicole Laber called the police on June 17th, 2023, and told them that her 8-month-old daughter had drowned in her dog’s water bowl.

The little girl died at the hospital.

During a police interview, Laber told investigators that another kid and the dog ran out the front door. She said she left the 8-month-old behind to chase after them.

Laber claimed she returned 2 to 3 minutes later to find her 8-month-old face down in the dog’s water bowl.

The investigation turned when Laber’s husband confronted her about the story, thinking she was lying. Two days after the crime, Laber contacted the police and confessed to leaving her daughter alone in the bathtub for 10 minutes. She was in a booster seat that tipped over and left her facedown in the water.

Laber dressed her daughter before calling the police.

She pleaded no contest to aggravated manslaughter of a child on September 16th, 2025. She was sentenced to 10 years in a Florida prison.

After her release, she will be on probation for 10 years.
