44-year-old Janice Dodson and her husband, 48-year-old John Bruce Dodson, went hunting on October 15, 1995.
Later that day, Janice called 911, saying John had been shot. When authorities arrived, her husband wasn’t wearing his vest.
Her story seemed plausible until an autopsy revealed John was hit three times.
Authorities learned Janice’s ex-husband was camping less than a mile away. They were able to prove that Janice stole one of his guns and killed her husband with it.
She was convicted of first-degree murder and sentenced to mandatory life on March 20th, 2000.
