39-year-old Jennifer “Jamma” Harris went to work at a McDonald’s in Eastpointe, Michigan, on Thursday, July 10th, 2025.

According to Clickondetroit.com, her employee, Afeni Muhammad, came to work two hours late so Harris punched her out and told her to go home.

Muhammad allegedly went outside and grabbed a kitchen knife from her car, along with something to cover her face.

She allegedly returned to the restaurant and stabbed James 23 times.

A man in the drive-thru saw what was going on and fired a shot.

When Muhammed fled the restaurant, the man from the drive-through chased her down and detained her until authorities arrived.

When she was questioned, she allegedly confessed, and interrogation footage released to the public shows her admitting to the murder, demonstrating how she stabbed Harris.

People located Muhammad’s Instagram page and saw videos in which she complained that she had already been sent home twice in early July.

In one post on July 8th, Muhammad called Harris a bully and said it would “catch up to her.”

Being sent home on Thursday, July 10th, was likely the final straw.

Detroitnews reported in July that she was being sent for a competency hearing. Months later, Fox2 reported that she was found competent to stand trial.

Prior stabbing offense

Reports indicate that Muhammad stabbed a boyfriend in 2022. When police arrived at the scene in that case, they reportedly saw Muhammed crying while she stated, “I stabbed him. Is he OK?”

Muhammed later pleaded guilty to a felony unlawful wounding charge. She received a 4-year suspended sentence and a year of probation in that case. Many feel that if she had received a harsher punishment for that crime, she wouldn’t have reoffended.

In the most recent case, she is being charged with first-degree premeditated murder and carrying a dangerous weapon with unlawful intent. Despite the evidence and the damning interrogation video, she has pleaded not guilty.

She is being held on a $25 million bond and could receive a life sentence if convicted. According to ClickonDetroit, her trial is supposed to start on September 15th, 2026.
