Catherine Scully and Tom Nevin got married in 1976. In 1986, they purchased Jack White’s Inn.
On March 19th, 1996, Tom was counting up that day’s earnings when he was shot. £16,000 in cash was taken during the incident.
Catherine said a man woke her up and tied her up. She claimed she never heard a gunshot.
Authorities didn’t feel that her statements matched the crime scene, and she became a suspect.
As the months passed, they learned the couple slept in separate beds; Catherine had affairs and recruited several men to off her husband. She was arrested on April 4th, 1997.
Catherine took the stand and denied having affairs or trying to get men to get rid of Tom. Her testimony didn’t help her case; she was convicted of murder on April 11th, 2000, and sentenced to life in prison.
She got a compassionate release in late 2017 because of a brain tumor, and she died on February 19th, 2018.
The shooter in the case was never caught.
