Dalia Dippolito Learns Her Husband Is “Dead”

Dalia Dippolito married Michael Dippolito in February 2009. A few months later, she asked one of her friends to help her get rid of Michael.

The friend went to the cops, and they started doing uncover surveillance. They caught Dalia on tape saying she was “5000 percent” sure she wanted to get rid of her husband.

When she came home from the gym on August 5th, 2009, police were at the home and told her her husband was dead. She pretended to be distraught and was taken to the police station, where she learned Michael was still alive. She was arrested and charged with solicitation of first-degree murder.

The case was big news in the States, as the police don’t usually prank suspects before they arrest them.

Legal Proceedings

She was convicted at her first trial and given 20 years, but the verdict was overturned. A second trial resulted in a mistrial. After being convicted of solicitation to commit first-degree murder at her third trial in 2017, she was given 16 years.

Prison Life

She remains locked up at Lowell Correctional Institution in Lowell, Florida. The facility has a maximum capacity of 3,000 inmates.

Other well-known inmates serving time there are former WWE star Tammy Lynn Stych, who performed under the name Sunny, as well as teen killer Rachel Wade and Hiccup girl Jennifer Mee.

They have various security levels: community, minimum, medium, and close.

Dippilito is being held in close custody, a notch below maximum custody.

Florida classifies close custody inmates as being a high risk to the staff and other inmates. Someone on this security level likely has a history of getting in trouble and is usually held in a single cell.

Her security level means she has to wear a waist chain, handcuffs, and leg irons anytime she is transported. She is kept in an armed perimeter most of the time.

Since her crimes were caught on video and she is very well known, it is possible she is being held in close custody because her safety may be at risk in the general population.

Some reports indicate she has led a bible study behind bars, but it’s unclear what other activities she has been involved with. Her release date is September 12th, 2030 ,when she is 47 years old.
