Murders of Angela and Rodney Gilpin
In 2009, Angela Gilpin broke her relationship with 54-year-old David R. Hosier and went back to her husband, Rodney Gilpin.
Hosier was enraged and made comments to several people, saying he was going to hurt her.
At some point after their breakup, Angela got a protective order against Hosier, but that didn’t keep him away.
He broke into the couple’s Jefferson City, Missouri, apartment on September 28th, 2009, and shot and killed them.
While investigating, police found a document in Angela’s purse stating she was afraid Hosier might kill her and her husband.
This made Hosier the prime suspect. Police went looking for him, but he had already fled.
He was captured in Oklahoma with 15 illegal guns in his vehicle.
Legal Proceedings
When he went to trial, he was found guilty of first-degree murder, burglary, felon in possession of a weapon, and several other offenses. He was sentenced to death.
Clemency
Hoiser’s lawyer filed a clemency petition saying that Hosier’s crime was related to trauma he suffered when he lost his father, Glen Hosier, in 1971 when he was 16.
Glen was an Indiana State Police Sergeant who was killed in the line of duty as he entered a home looking for a murder suspect.
The Clemency petition was denied.
Hosier stated displeasure with his legal team, saying they should have focused on the lack of physical evidence tying him to the couple’s deaths. He claims there were no DNA or fingerprints linking him to the crime.
Execution
According to the IrishStar, on June 11th, 2024, at 11 AM, Hosier was served a last meal of New York strip steak, a baked potato with butter and sour cream, Texas toast, Dutch apple pie, and orange juice and milk
Later that day, he was marched to the death chamber and strapped to the gurney. In his final words, he continued to claim he was innocent.
The 69-year-old was injected with a lethal dose of chemicals and pronounced dead at 6:11 PM, CBSNews reported.
