In Cottonwood Heights, Utah, a missing person report soon spiraled into a dark and tangled mystery.
On September 28, 2024, Jennifer Gledhill, a 42-year-old mother of three, told police her husband, Matthew Johnson—a Utah National Guard member—had vanished after a fight on September 20.
But things didn’t add up. Investigators soon learned that Gledhill had allegedly confessed to an affair partner that she shot Matthew while he slept on September 21.
She reportedly described how she hid his body in a rooftop container, drove it away in their minivan, and buried it in a shallow grave just north of their home.
Though Matthew’s body hasn’t been recovered, damning details surfaced bloodstains in their bedroom and GPS placing her at the alleged burial site.
She was arrested in October 2024 and charged with first-degree murder.
Her parents were also detained for allegedly helping cover up the crime. Jennifer pleaded not guilty and remains in custody as her legal battle progresses.
