Jennifer Trayers, a 42-year-old, was married to 41-year-old Navy Lieutenant Commander Frederick Trayers III for several years.
In 2010, Jennifer learned her husband was having an affair and was planning on leaving her. On December 4th, 2010, she stabbed her husband multiple times, killing him.
She was arrested the next day.
At trial, she admitted she was also having an affair at the time of the crime. She testified that she grabbed a knife and went to talk to her husband about his affair, and when he tried to take the knife away, she stabbed him once. She conveniently blacked out after that and didn’t remember anything else.
Her defense team said it was a case of manslaughter.
The prosecution said she planned the crime and waited until her husband was asleep, and then attacked him with the knife.
The jury convicted her of second-degree murder. In 2012, she was sentenced to 16 years to life in prison.
She was eligible for parole in 2022. As of August 2025, she is not listed in California’s inmates search. She is likely free, but when she was released and here whereabout are unknown at this time.
