Police were called to a home in Atlanta, Georgia, on April 6th, 2025, where they saw 7-year-old Mazi Simmons with his head sticking out of a window.

He was freed and rushed to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead. A witness told investigators that Kandice Grace stopped at his place the night before for a short time while she left her three kids in the car.

The witness said when he came out the next morning, Grace was passed out in the front seat, and the boy’s head was stuck in the window.

Despite his attempts, he said he was unable to wake Grace up.

Police ran toxicology tests on Grace, and she tested positive for drugs. Police believe she passed out, leaving a dangerous situation for her unsupervised kids.

She was arrested on September 25th and charged with second-degree murder and second-degree cruelty to children.

She is being held without bond and is awaiting trial.
