On February 9th, 2024, in Reno, Nevada, 17-year-old Mashenka Ann Marie Reid sent her father, Justin Reid, out on an errand while she stayed behind with her 4-year-old brother, who was special needs, and her 2-year-old sister.

With her father gone, the teen quickly accessed her father’s firearm. She had previously handled the weapon but forgot how it worked, so she searched online and promptly retaught herself.

When Justin returned to the home with groceries, he was shot multiple times. Mashenka turned the weapon on her four-year-old brother, who was on the couch playing with his tablet.

She planned to delete her little sister, too, but she couldn’t get to her because the girl was in a locked room.

With her mission 67% com, Mashenka decided to call the police. She told the dispatcher, “I shot my dad, I shot my brother. My brother’s dead.” She also stated she “just couldn’t resist the urge to kill somebody.”

The deranged teen was waiting outside the home when the first officer arrived. He quickly took her into custody. After entering the house, authorities saw the little brother dead on the first floor and Justin dead in the garage.

When Mansheka was interviewed, she told investigators that her mother left the family on December 15th, 2023, and even though the two weren’t close, she had been “extremely depressed” since.

She admitted to fantasizing about murder and rape since her mother left. She also told authorities she had been listening to audio of people inflicting pain on themselves.

The audio led her to fantasize about choking, shooting, stabbing, and torturing her family and others.

She also confessed to being sick of her nonverbal brother and his “annoying noises.”

Mashenka was charged with two counts of murder and one count of attempted murder. She is being held in the Washoe County jail without bail.
