21-year-old Denise Amber Lee was at her home in North Port, Florida, with her two young children on January 17th, 2008. She spoke to her husband, Nathan, just before 11:30 a.m., and everything seemed normal.

Things changed when Michael Lee King got inside the home and kidnapped Lee.

When Nathan got home at 3:30 pm, he found Lee gone and the children alone. He immediately called 911.

King left his phone behind when he stopped at his cousin’s home to get a shovel, a gas can, and a flashlight. Lee used the phone to call 911 at 6:14 pm, but authorities could not trace it because it was a prepaid phone.

A neighbor reported seeing a dark green Chevy Camaro at Lee’s home, and a driver reported hearing a similar vehicle with a person screaming for help.

King was captured six hours after Lee’s husband initially called 911, but it was too late. She had already been violated, killed, and buried in a shallow grave.

Now 54 years old, King is expected to get the needle on March 17th, 2026.

Execution

King’s final day alive was March 17th, 2026. According to the NYPost, on the morning of the 54-year-old met with a visitor and his spiritual advisor.

At some point, he was served a last meal of pizza, tater tots, ice cream, and soda.

Once the execution began, Denise husband and eldest son were watching.

According to Alligator.org, King made a statement reflecting on his spiritual journey in prison saying he “tried to live as His disciple obeying the Two Great Commandments.” He also stated “Matt. 22:37-40 If you want true Peace, ask Jesus into your heart.”

Accodring to the NYPost, he did not apologize to his victim’s family.

King was given a lethal cocktail of drugs and moments later, at 6:13pm, he was pronounced dead.
