Natasha Cornett was bullied in school for her goth attire and because she was different.
Once she dropped out in 9th grade, she met people who accepted her.
On April 6th, 1997 18 year 18-year-old Cornett and 5 others headed toward New Orleans, Louisiana, to start new lives.
The group crossed paths with the Lillelid family at a rest stop in Greenville, Tennessee. The family of four consisted of 34-year-old Vidar Lillelid, his 28-year-old wife Delfina, and their two kids, 6-year-old Tabitha and 2-year-old Peter.
Cornett and her friends decided to steal the Lillelid family’s van. They forced them into the vehicle at gunpoint and drove to a desert location. One of the males in the group shot the family. 2 year old Peter survived, but the other three died.
After the murders, the group changed their plans and headed to Mexico in the family’s van.
Two days later, they were arrested in Arizona.
On March 13th, 1998, they all pleaded guilty to three counts of murder and several other offenses.
Cornett received three life without parole sentences plus two 25-year sentences.
