Gary Triano made millions from investing in bingo halls, slot parlors, and real estate. His investment eventually went south, and when the money dwindled, his wife Pamela Phillips filed for divorce and left town with their two kids.
She moved on with a new man, Ronald Young, and they started plotting Triano’s demise. Eventually, she took out $2 million in life insurance with her and Triano’s kids as beneficiaries.
On November 1st, 1996, 53-year-old Triano went to a Tucson, Arizona, country club to play golf. After he left the club and got in his vehicle, a device exploded, leaving him deceased.
The policy was paid out in 1997.
In 2005, Young was arrested on unrelated charges, and in 2008, he was hit with murder charges.
Phillips fled to Austria but was eventually brought back to the States.
Young was convicted of first-degree murder and conspiracy to commit murder on April 8th, 2014.
She was sentenced to life in prison without parole for murder and 25 years to life for conspiracy on May 22, 2014.
Phillips was also found guilty and sentenced to life.
