Murder of Alicia “Red” Campitelli
At first glance, Philip Keller seemed like just another fighter chasing dreams inside the cage.
Born on November 16th, 1981, in Palm Bay, Florida, he was 5 foot 4, scrappy, and stubborn—fighting in the featherweight division with a record that barely kept him afloat: 2 wins, six losses.
However, Keller’s story didn’t end in the octagon.
On May 15th, 2021, it veered into something far darker when he called police, telling them his fiancée, 35-year-old Alicia “Red” Campitelli, had been shot.
He blamed an intruder, saying, “Oh my God. It looks like she’s been shot and been robbed, my house has been robbed.”
After a brief investigation, the police determined that there was no intruder and that Keller had fatally shot Campitelli. Then, in a callous move, he used her debit card to withdraw money from her accounts.
Six days after the murder, the cops chased the ex-MMA fighter as he jumped into a creek, where he was arrested for the murder of the beloved piercing artist who was well known around Merritt Island, Florida.
Once at the station, Keller confessed to shooting her after they had argued about his drug use. He also admitted to using the money he took from her accounts on drugs.
He was charged with first-degree murder and several other charges and was facing life without parole.
Legal Proceedings
In February of 2025, the 43-year-old Keller pleaded guilty to second-degree murder, grand theft, and a list of other charges.
He was handed a 50-year prison sentence with parole eligibility after 25 years, which gives him a small glimmer of hope to see freedom one day.
