On October 4th, 2024, Sandi Ramona Goodman called 911 and reported that her 3-year-old was burned by boiling water.
The boy’s skin was coming off, and doctors had to perform emergency surgery.
Goodman told authorities that she left some boiling water alone and she heard her son scream. Detectives challenged her story as the boy had some old wounds on his body that were healing. Goodman blamed his injuries on bug bites.
Investigators found text messages where she called her son “slow”.
They also determined she searched for:
“How to get rid of bruise on a child, how to get rid of welt on a child, selling a child for money,” and several other incriminated terms.
Police talked to her 7-year-old and 5-year-old and learned she used a phone cord to discipline the kids. Investigators also learned of a choking and punching incident the kids experienced.
Goodman was held on $50,000 and she was not allowed to contact her kids.
She pled guilty to of Physical Abuse of a Child and Repeated Acts Causing Great Bodily Harm on March 12th, 2025.
She was sentenced to 6 years in prison and 10 years of extended supervision.
Her expected release date is October 7th, 2030.
