Murder of Audreanna Zimmerman
In 2010, 41-year-old Tina Brown, her 16-year-old daughter Britnee Miller, and two other women, 27-year-old Heather Lee and 19-year-old Audreanna Zimmerman lived in the same mobile home park in Ensley, Florida.
They were friends at first, but their relationship deteriorated as time passed. Brown accused Zimmerman of slashing her tire, while Zimmerman accused brown of breaking one of her car windows and calling child protective services on her.
Miller and Zimmerman began to have conflict when Miller learned her boyfriend had been intimate with Zimmerman. According to Lee, Miller tried to assault Zimmerman one day, but Zimmerman incapacitated her with a stun gun.
When Brown learned about the stun gun being used on her daughter, she reportedly said she was “going to get” Zimmerman.
On March 24th, 2010, days after the stun gun incident, Zimmerman went to Brown’s mobile home to settle their differences while Lee and Miller and Miller’s 13-year-old friend hid.
At some point, Brown stunned Zimmerman with a stun gun multiple times. Lee and Brown came out from hiding, and the trio threw her into the trunk of a vehicle.
They drove Zimmerman to a wooded area nearby and left the 13-year-old behind.
Miller beat her enemy with a crowbar while her mother continued to use the stun gun on her. Miller got a few punches in, and then Brown grabbed a can of gas from the car, poured it on Zimmerman, and then set her on fire.
Miller screamed, “Burn Bitch! Burn” as her rival went up in flames.
They left Zimmerman to die, but she summoned the will to make it to a nearby home. The homeowner called 911, and soon, help arrived.
The EMT would later say Zimmerman was burned so badly that he initially couldn’t tell if she was wearing clothing. He said her skin was falling off, and she looked to have a broken or dislocated jaw.
At some point, she told him, “‘They Tased me, they beat me in the head with a crowbar and set me on fire. ‘My friends did it. I thought we had made up.’
She gave him the names and addresses of her attackers.
She was transported to a hospital with burns covering 60 percent of her body.
Her deranged attackers were arrested within 24 hours of the crime, but they were released.
They were rearrested on April 9th, 2010, the same day Zimmerman passed away.
Miller claimed that when they invited Zimmerman over, she planned to fight her, but things got out of hand.
Legal Proceedings
Miller pleaded guilty to first-degree murder and was given a life sentence.
Lee later pleaded guilty to second-degree murder. She was facing life in prison, but she received a 25-year prison sentence.
When Brown went to trial, Lee testified against her. The court also heard from Brown’s friend Pamela. She testified that Brown wanted her to go to the hospital and finish Zimmerman off.
The evidence against brown was overwhelming, and a jury convicted her and recommended the death sentence.
During the penalty phase of Brown’s trial, she had loved ones and doctors testify she struggled with drugs and was a victim of sexual abuse. They claimed those issues influenced her decisions when she kidnapped and killed Zimmerman.
The Judge felt the horrific way that Zimmerman died outweighed the defense arguments.
He sentenced Brown to die. As of August 2026, she is the only woman on death row in Florida.
