Crimes
Jack Wayne Reeves joined the Army in the 1960s and was stationed in Italy. One night, he confronted a suspected peeping tom, chased him down, and fatally shot him.
Reeves was convicted of Manslaughter. The US president at the time, Lyndon B. Johnson, stepped in and got Reeves released after serving just four months.
In 1978, Reeves’ second wife, Sharon Vaughn, sent him divorce papers while he was overseas. He returned to the States, and within 24 hours, she ended up dead after being shot in the chest.
Her death was ruled a suicide. Reeves moved on in 1985, marrying Myong-Hi Chong, a woman he met in South Korea.
Their union was brief, and in 1986, she drowned while the couple was camping at Lake Whitney in Texas. The death was ruled accidental.
Reeves’ next wife was mail-order bride Emilita Villa.
In October 1994, she went missing, and a year later, she turned up dead in a shallow grave at Lake Whitney.
This time, investigators took a closer look at Reeves, and he was charged and later convicted of the deaths of Sharon Vaughn Reeves and Emilita Villa. He was sentenced to 35 years for Sharon’s murder and a concurrent 99 years for the murder of Emilita.
Reeves was never charged in his third wife’s death.
Parole
The 85-year-old became eligible for parole on February 6th, 2026.
The Texas Department of Criminal Justice announced on April 14th, 2026, that his parole was denied, citing two factors: his criminal history and the nature of the offenses he’s convicted of.
He will have another hearing in April 2031, if he lives that long.
