Derrick Todd Lee Background
Derrick Todd Lee was born in Francisville, Louisiana, on November 5th, 1968. He had a dozen siblings and half-siblings. He sucked in school and dropped out in 11th grade.
As a teen, he was a weirdo who got pleasure from peeking into women’s homes.
He never outgrew his obsession, and his behavior escalated as he got older.
In November 1992, he was arrested for breaking into a Zachary, Louisiana home.
In January 1993, Lee and his buddy Thomas Whitaker Jr. were arrested for breaking into a home where they robbed and beat an elderly man.
In July 1993, Lee was sent to prison for a year for burglary.
He continued to commit crimes after his release. In September 1995, he was arrested for stealing. He was also busted for peeping in a woman’s window and running from the cops.
In August 1997, he was arrested for peeping, and in August 1999, he was arrested for stalking and peeping.
His crimes escalate to murder
In April 1998, he committed his first confirmed murder. He kidnapped 28-year-old Randi Mebruer from her home in Zachary, Louisiana. Evidence at the scene showed a violent struggle occurred. However, her body was never found.
In January 2000, he beat his girlfriend senselessly at a bar after she confronted him for talking to another woman. After the incident, he fled to avoid arrest and tried to run over a deputy.
He was later captured, convicted, and sentenced to two years in prison.
By September 2001, he was back on the street and he beat up his wife, although the charges were dropped.
Over the next few years, Lee took his violence to the next level and couldn’t stop killing.
On September 24th, 2001, 40-year-old Gina Wilson Green was found dead in her home in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
On January 14th, 2002, 21-year-old LSU student Geralyn Desoto was found in her home by her husband. Her husband was the prime suspect in the murder before the DNA at the scene was linked to Lee.
On May 312t, 2002, 22-year-old Charlotte Murray Pace was found dead by her roommate.
On July 9th, 2002, Diane Alexander was attacked in her home in Breaux Bridge, Louisiana. She only lived to see another day because her son came home during the attack.
Alexander was able to help authorities create a composite of Lee, but the investigation continued to move slowly, and Todd was able to keep killing.
On July 12th, 2002, 44-year-old Pam Kenmore was kidnapped from her home, violated, and beaten to death.
On November 21st, 2002, Lee kidnapped 23-year-old Trineisha Dene Colomb from her Lafayette home, violated her and beat her, then dumped her dead body in a wooded area in Scott, Louisiana.
On March 3rd, 2003, Lee kidnapped 26-year-old Carrie Lynn Yoder from her apartment. After violating her, he beat and strangled her, then threw her body off a bridge.
Capture, Conviction and Death
On May 5th, 2003, authorities in Zachary, Louisiana, got a DNA swab from Lee to see if he was behind the murder of Mebruer in 1998.
They shared Lee’s DNA sample with the Baton Rouge Killer task force, and on May 25th, 2003, it was linked to seven murders. Two days later, Lee was arrested in Atlanta, Georgia, for first-degree murder.
On August 10th, 2004, a jury convicted him of second-degree murder in the death of Desoto.
Three months later, a second jury convicted him of first-degree murder in the death of Pace.
He was sentenced to death. On January 16th, 2016, he was rushed to the hospital; five days later, he died at the age of 47 from heart disease.
