Bruce Everitt Lindahl’s Background
Bruce Everitt Lindahl was born in St. Charles, Illinois, on January 29th, 1953. Not much is known about his childhood, but one high school classmate said, “he kind of gave us all the creeps.”
After high school, Lindahl attended college and got a degree in electromechanics.
After that, he worked as an electrician. When he wasn’t working, he played sports and spent time with friends. One close friend reported that he was occasionally aggressive toward others, but other than that, he was a nice guy.
Lindahl had several run-ins with the law as an adult, but he never faced serious consequences.
Murder of Charles Robert “Chuck” Huber Jr.
On April 4th, 1981, he met 18-year-old Charles Robert “Chuck” Huber Jr. in Naperville. The two hung out and bowled before Lindhal invited the teen to his ex-girlfriend’s home.
Once there, Lindhal stabbed Huber 28 times and killed him. During the fierce attack, Lindhal accidentally stabbed himself in the leg. The 28-year-old severed his femoral artery, bled out, and died on top of Huber.
Lindahl’s Other Crimes Come To Light
As the decades passed, authorities took a closer look at Lindahl’s life, and they believe he got away with at least 12 murders and nine rapes.
In one instance, he was pulled over with an unconscious, bloody woman in his vehicle. He told the officers he was taking her to the hospital, but they were suspicious because he was driving away from the hospital.
They had an ambulance come and get the woman. She told the police the last thing she remembered was Lindahl giving her something to drink. He was never charged with a crime.
On January 12th, 1976, 16-year-old High School Junior Pamela Maurer went to a McDonald’s in Lisle, Illinois, at around 9:45 pm to get something to drink.
She never made it to McDonald’s and was found dead the next morning. She had been strangled and violated. The case went cold for decades. In 2019, investigators connected crime scene DNA to Lindahl.
On March 6th, 1979, Lindahl told 20-year-old Annette Lazar he would sell her some marijuana. When she came over, he allegedly pulled a gun on her and violated her.
She acted like she enjoyed it and wanted to see him again to trick him into letting her leave. After she was released, she contacted authorities. When investigators saw she left her phone number behind, they doubted her credibility. When they determined the home where the attack allegedly occurred belonged to a police officer, they did not file charges against Lindhal.
On April 24th, 1979, 19-year-old Kathy Halle was found dead near North Aurora after she had been missing for three weeks. In October 2024, her murder was linked to Lindhal via DNA.
On December 22nd, 1979, he allegedly offered a 30-year-old woman in Aurora, Illinois, a few bucks to perform sexual services. The woman declined, and he attacked her. Since there were many witnesses in the area, Lindhal fled without doing a lot of damage.
The woman went to the police, but nothing happened.
On June 23rd, Lindhal allegedly kidnapped 25-year-old Debra Coliander from a shopping center in Aurora, Illinois. After getting her back to his place, he violated her. At some point, he fell asleep, and she got away. She turned Lindhal in, and he was arrested but released on bail while awaiting trial.
On October 7th, Coliander went missing, and the charges against Lindhal were dropped. Coliander’s body was found in Oswego, Illinois in April 1982. Lindahl is considered the prime suspect in her murder.
On January 28th, 1981, Linhal was charged with illegally recording people’s phone calls and trying to extort them. When the cops went to pick him up, he pulled a gun on them. He was hit with resisting arrest, weapon, and assault charges, but he got out on bail.
Less than three months later, he was dead, and the streets were a lot safer.
