Jesse Stone Commits An Unthinkable Crime In Reddick, FL
On June 9, 2024, in Reddick, Florida, someone broke into the home of a 91-year-old woman in the middle of the night. He punched her multiple times as she fought for her life. He ripped off her underwear and violated her before fleeing.
She contacted 911, and she was taken to the hospital, where police interviewed her. The innocent woman had bruises on her face and arms and was wearing a neck brace. She could not give details of the attacker’s appearance since it was dark in the home.
However, she told the authorities that a kid from the neighborhood had visited her the day before. She also mentioned he was a “good” boy, and that was the first time he stopped by in a while.
Stone puts himself in police crosshairs
As law enforcement canvased the neighborhood, 14-year-old Jesse Stone rode up to them. He was wearing a NASA T-shirt and gym shorts and told them a neighbor had some information about the crime.
The neighbor showed authorities security footage of a person jogging near the victim’s house the night of the attack. He was wearing a NASA T-shirt and gym shorts, just as Stone.
They went to Stone’s home, and with his grandmother’s permission, they took a DNA sample. To everyone’s surprise, his DNA matched the crime scene evidence, and the teen was arrested at school and taken to the station.
He confessed to entering the woman’s home, watching adult material on the iPad, then entering her bedroom and violating the 91-year-old.
Stone was charged as an adult with two felonies, and on November 7, 2024, he eventually pleaded guilty to both of them.
Sentencing
At his sentencing hearing in February 2025, his grandmother spoke of him having family issues and said Stone was sorry for what he had done.
His lawyer spoke before sentencing, putting some blame on his childhood and a porn addiction. The lawyer was also hoping the judge would sentence the teen as a juvenile or youthful offender rather than putting him in prison for decades. He felt that a maximum of 135 months would be an appropriate punishment.
The judge didn’t think sentencing him as a youthful offender was appropriate, given his actions. She gave him 25 years in prison and 30 years of sex offender probation; he also had to take an anger management class and a mental health evaluation before his release.
Stone showed little emotion when the sentence was handed down, although he did nod on several occasions as the judge spoke. At the end of the hearing, he seemed to be processing everything and realizing how badly he had messed up his life.
