Divorced mother of two, Trinh Nguyen, was evicted from her home and was ordered to vacated by May 3rd, 2022.
The day before the eviction, she shot her sons, nine-year-old Nelson Tini, and 13-year-old Jeffrey Tini. Then she went across the street to speak with a relative of her ex-husband.
Nguyen handed him a box of photos that she wanted him to give to her ex-husband.
Then she pulled out her gun and tried to shoot him, but the gun didn’t fire.
The man disarmed her, and she fled the scene. Authorities were called. Her sons were still alive and were taken to the hospital, where they died on May 6th.
Nguyen fled to New Jersey and tried to take her own life. She was found in her minivan in a church parking lot and taken into custody.
In December 2023, she pleaded guilty to two counts of first-degree murder and one count of attempted murder. She received two life sentences plus 10 to 20 years.
